We are conducting a search for a Canadian Data Center Manager on
behalf of our client located in Surrey, BC. Reporting directly to the Global IT
Director with a dotted line report to the local CFO, the Canadian Data Center
Manager is responsible for the operation, planning and development of the
Canadian Data Center. In addition, the Data Center Manager will work with IT
members to coordinately respond to the IT needs of 2 Canadian locations and
actively develop business process solutions as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a framework of relationships in all of the business segments.
- Actively participate in the definitions of standards and processes.
- Continuously increase depth of competence in software and hardware products
employed in the business.
- Provide technical support to all users in the Canadian locations both
through problem responsiveness and knowledge needs requirements.
- Maintain a high level of security regarding, both hardware, software and
information systems processes.
- Implement, maintain and support all server and infrastructure systems in the
Canadian Datacenter.
- Manage and operate all infrastructure systems in the various Canadian
locations.
- Assess and identify IT solutions for current business processes.
- Contribute with IS knowledge in local business development projects.
- Support the operations of central systems for the Canadian locations.
- Develop and maintain a documentation management system for information
systems & processes.
- Develop training requirements that address particular user needs to improve
their performance efficiency and competence.
- Assist users with desktop technology both, hardware and software, support
and trouble-shooting.
- Maintain inventory of hardware and software employed in the business.
- Interact with the management teams of both Canadian locations.
- manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Work actively with the business process owners of Canadian locations.
- Interact with the IT personnel in the other global locations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Formal educational background of a University degree in Computer Science (or
similar formal educational background) along with additional computer specific
educational certification including that of MCSE.
- Data Center Management experience.
- Experienced WAN/LAN administration with a good understanding of technical
computer systems and networks, including that of:
- VPN, and IP LAN management
- Altiris IT management system
- Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory and Group Policy
- Citrix Presentation Server 4.5/WTS 2003 (including implementation, web
access and application packaging)
- Lotus Notes Domino Server Administration (Lotus exp minimal - will be required to set up and remove users)
- Backup and restore procedures using Symantec Backup Exec
- Symantec Antivirus 12
- VMware ESXi
- HP Server hardware installation and configuration
- Cisco Switch management (VLAN's, troubleshooting, monitoring)
- Netapp Storage
- Desktop Imaging (through Altiris)
- Desktop Applications including Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office 2010
- Excellent relational skills including written and oral communication
demonstrating superior client servicing.
- Driven to perform and improve information systems.
- Committed to travel as necessary both internationally (1 - 2 times per
annum) and to various Canadian operational sites as necessary.
- Organized working patterns to support systems and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or under only general direction
on requirements that are moderately complex to analyse, plan, and
implement.
- Outstanding capability of working with a variety of personalities.
- Demonstrated technical writing ability with specific experience in systems
and procedures documentation including change management and disaster
recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Superior reporting and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated determination in the evaluation and mitigation of the
information technology “total cost of ownership”.
- Previous information systems project management experience.
- Some experience working in a multinational information systems environment.
- Some previous experience working with and supporting users in an ERP
application (MOVEX would be ideal).
- Some scripting or programming experience would be desirable.
