SOFTWARE QUALITY ENGINEER - TEST DEVELOPER

We are conducting a search for a Software Quality Engineer on behalf of our client located in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Director, Software Quality, the Senior QA Engineer will work as a member of a team with responsibilities in quality working one on one with the Development resources.  The ideal candidate is an individual contributor, active in applying software quality engineering activities with respect to our client's enterprise software offering.  The position requires functional test design and planning, operation of open source and proprietary test automation tools, detailed staging of complex distributed test scenarios, and work with on-site as well as offshore development and quality team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designs and configures test environments to achieve solid testing.
• Develops and maintains test assets from requirements including test matrices, test strategies, test cases/plans.
• Executes tests and works closely with Lead Quality Engineer and development team to resolve system and product issues.
• Partipates in using, maintaining and extending tools necessary for functional testing, defect tracking, risk analysis and coordination.
• Active in improving/expanding test automation and product quality.
• Stages test situations to better understand situations reported from the field.
 

QUALIFICATIONS
• 3 - 4 years experience in enterprise level commercial software environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of quality principles and practices including test planning, test strategy, test matrix design in a fast-paced/rapid-turn/process light environment.
• Must have exposure to non-commercial, open source test tools/suites/frameworks (HttpUnit, HTMLUnit, JUnit, Jmeter etc).  Please note – experience with commercial test tools (ie. WinRunner, LoadRunner, Quick Test Pro is not applicable.
• Must have ability to read/write Java code in support of developing test automation and suites.
• Must have exposure to set up, configuration, and usage of various environments including Windows and Linux.
• Must have previous QA experience working on all aspects of testing hosted multi-tiered web applications including functional, stress/performance and deployment.
• Experience working within an agile, iterative or XP environment an asset.
• Ability to work in complex setups and configurations an asset as configuration and troubleshooting of web/application servers and/or IT networking in combination with quality skills has proven to be highly effective.
• Exceptional problem solving skills.
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent.
